João Paulo Pereira crossed paths with embodiment and energetic arts as a teenager in 1999 and likes to think he’s found his life’s purpose: sharing it. A student of Yoga, Ayurveda, Tantra, martial arts, dance, Pilates, acrobatics & Aguahara, he teaches locally in Santa Rosa - stolen land of the Wappo, Pomo & Coast Miwok 1st nations. João is a yoga therapist in the SF Bay Area and leads Yoga teacher-trainings around the world. These days, his jams are rock climbing and aquatic therapy/dance/play.
BASA is a breath-focused practice that balances inner challenge and effortlessness, introspection, and play. This is a unique opportunity to attune to your embodied consciousness on a profound level. Deeply drop into your intention and find *your* perfect pace as you amplify breath, build heat with asana (postures), and end with consciousness expanding mudra (inner gestures). Y’all are welcome regardless of your yoga or meditation experience.
A journey into the velvety, gravity-less realms of underwater dance. You will learn the basics of water play and underwater safety, some simple yet exciting partnered underwater acrobatics, how to “base” and “dance” (think acroyoga but the “flyer” is underwater) as you enjoy the almost limitless movement available beneath the water’s surface. This playshop will be a closed container yet you do not need to bring a partner to join. All necessary supplies for underwater play will be provided.
