Paul is an activist and facilitator in social justice spaces. In the past decade, he has explored different roles paid and unpaid in international development, politics, and education. For the last 5 years, he has volunteered in community to build and bring anti-racist curricula to white-identified people in the Bay Area.
Having privilege often generates feelings of guilt and shame. It is easy to linger in the intensity of these feelings, or to step back away from them into indifference or disassociation. Joy comes from living fully connected to ourselves and others. Metabolizing the guilt and shame of privilege is a necessary step to a more joyful life. We will think about privilege we hold, how it impacts relationships in our life, and explore ways that we can show up for the connection being asked for.
